Join us to celebrate the opening of Rirkrit Tiravanija: A LOT OF PEOPLE and experience the full range of the artist’s interactive works for one day only. The artist’s largest survey to date, the exhibition includes installations, sculptures, films, works on paper, photographs, and interactive artworks, several of which will be presented throughout the day. Play ping-pong, enjoy pad thai, then sip herbal tea and Turkish coffee—the entire event is free and open to the public.

Beginning at 12:30 p.m., share a meal with fellow visitors when you experience untitled 1990 (pad thai), one of the artist’s most iconic artworks. Known for revisiting and restaging his previous works, Tiravanija here presents untitled 1990 (pad thai) as a participatory “play.” Sample the dish while the food lasts, and then visit the galleries to see the remnants of this work’s very first presentation in New York over thirty years ago.

Throughout the day, play music and record your own demo in untitled 1996 (rehearsal studio no. 6, open version). Tiravanija’s recording studio is modeled after the former Context Studios in the Lower East Side, where he often rehearsed with friends.

Experience untitled 1993 (café deutschland), a contemplative space wherein visitors can drink Turkish coffee and read museum catalogs from throughout PS1’s history. The makeshift café explores the role of hospitality and the impact of cultural and culinary exchange.

Take part in these interactive artworks, all on view together for the first time, alongside the full range of Tiravanija’s work across our second-floor galleries, lobby, and Courtyard.
