Join us to celebrate two new exhibitions at an Open House featuring talks from artists, curators, and scholars. The entire day is free and open to the public.
The event marks the opening weekend of Daniel Lind-Ramos: El Viejo Griot — Una historia de todos nosotros, featuring over ten monumental sculptures that explore traditions and histories of Afro-descendant communities in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean, and Iiu Susiraja: A style called a dead fish, an exhibition of photographs and videos by the Finnish artist.
At 2 p.m. join us for a conversation between artist Daniel Lind-Ramos and art historian Dr. Julia Bryan-Wilson. The conversation will consider and contextualize how working from Loíza, Puerto Rico anchors Lind-Ramos’s practice, connecting the craft and material conditions throughout the artist’s work to legacies of labor across the Caribbean.
At 3:30 p.m. swing by Artbook @ MoMA PS1 for a conversation between artist Iiu Susiraja and Assistant Curator Jody Graf. Celebrating the launch of Susiraja’s exhibition and accompanying publication, the discussion will include a reading of her poems in both Finnish and English.
Hear a special playlist celebrating Daniel Lind-Ramos created by Payola Isabel, DJ and co-founder of Radiored, at Mina’s and on the museum terrace. While you’re there, drop by our restaurant, Mina’s, for an all-day happy hour with special cocktails and menu items.
