MoMA PS1 presents a half-day conference exploring curatorial methodologies from Latin America, the Caribbean, and their diasporas. Forging connections across the Americas, the convening highlights curatorial approaches that foreground diasporic politics, Indigenous perspectives, transnational solidarity, language justice, and community collaboration. The program is the second of a three-part cross-institutional collaboration between MoMA PS1, MAC Panamá, and the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago. This bilingual conference is free and open to the public, with simultaneous translation in English and Spanish available.

Part 1, 3–4:30 p.m.

This program explores curating in Latin America and the Caribbean within international and diasporic contexts. Short presentations will be followed by moderated discussion. The program is presented in English, with Spanish interpretation available.

This presentation dives into Maya Juracán’s theory of curaduría comunitaria, a curatorial methodology that emphasizes socially engaged, community-driven work. This lecture and conversation will be in Spanish, with English interpretation available.
