Pennants & Poets is an installation and spoken word event created by Jenny Polak in collaboration with writers from The Fortune Society and Hour Children Working Women. Join an outdoor pennant-making workshop led by Jenny Polak in the 46th Ave Pop-Up Plaza (in front of the PS1 main entrance), followed by a reading of original work by writers from The Fortune Society featured in Homeroom.

The event also features 50 flying pennant flags printed with poems and messages from people who have been directly impacted by incarceration. The pennant flags, with their nautical and sporting associations, create a resilient and celebratory backdrop for the event. The combined messages form a powerful collective call for an end to mass incarceration and support for the millions affected by it. Coffee, water, and snacks will be provided.
