Join us for a celebration of immigrant cultures and labor in New York. In conjunction with the Homeroom activation Nuevayorkinos: Essential and Excluded, we’ll be honoring the power and creativity of New York’s multi-faceted immigrant community with art workshops, craft and food vendors, and live performances on Rashid Johnson’s Stage. The celebration also marks the historic $2.1 billion Excluded Workers’ Fund, passed in 2021 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The event will pay homage to the hunger strikers, advocates, and organizers who secured essential funding for New Yorkers left out of traditional stimulus packages, including undocumented New Yorkers. Nuevayorkinos: Essential and Excluded is presented in collaboration with Nuevayorkinos and key members of the Fund Excluded Workers Coalition, Make the Road, New York Communities for Change, and the Street Vendor Project.
