Sunday Sessions

The Serving Library presents POLYESTER 86% NYLON 14%

Sunday, March 2, 2014
3:30 PM to 6:00 PM

The premiere of a unisex, waterproof, reversible SERVING JACKET by Project No.8 for The Serving Library in *red wine* only (both sides).

Featuring live music by JOSEPHINE FOSTER & FRIENDS (Otto Hauser on percussion, Imago on cello, and Susan Alcorn on pedal steel) and hard copies of BULLETINS OF THE SERVING LIBRARY #6 all in a hemispherical room spun on its horizontal AXIS

“An axis is a name for a continuum of possibilities between two extreme positions: so the axis between black and white is a scale of greys. I can illustrate this idea by applying it to the description of haircuts. Rather than only being able to say of someone's haircut that it is, for example, masculine or feminine, we're as likely to want to say that it's quite masculine, or quite feminine, or unisexual—somewhere in the middle.” (Brian Eno)

THE SERVING LIBRARY, founded in 2011 by Stuart Bailey, Angie Keefer, and David Reinfurt, is a cooperatively-built archive that assembles itself by publishing. BULLETINS OF THE SERVING LIBRARY is their composite printed/electronic journal, which follows a direct line from Dot Dot Dot (published semi-annually by Dexter Sinister from 2000–2010). The “bulletins” that make up each issue are first released online as PDFs over a six-month period, then printed, bound, and distributed twice a year.

Tickets are available at the door.

Sunday Sessions is organized by Jenny Schlenzka, Associate Curator with Mike Skinner, Producer, Alex Sloane, Live Programming Coordinator and Rosey Selig-Addiss, Production Assistant.

Sunday Sessions and the VW Dome at MoMA PS1 are made possible by a partnership with Volkswagen of America.
