“Cut and paste” is a phrase we associate with using a computer, however as an artist I feel it can be applied to anything artistically. Like a poet uses words I use objects and images and the meanings associated with each. A vintage object calls to mind a time passed. An iconic logo references popular culture and consumerism. Many images define genres and it is with this physical and visual dictionary I find a starting place. A new type of visual poetry can be formed using objects and images because unlike words they are tangible. Texture, color and material are basic considerations. Secondary considerations are the usage of objects, their history and how they relate to other objects on literal, metaphoric and allegoric levels. An altermodern perspective takes precedence, commenting on global/technological culture and the affects it has on our existence.
