Stephen Truax
My work is a project-based analysis of the historical origins and the current limits and parameters of art. My work is an exploration of the significance of being an artist, and is just as concerned with my own practice, as a subject, as it is with the global art world. It addresses specific theoretical issues regarding cultural production today, but is comprised of a romantic and loaded reflection on a place from which art has moved on. It is my hope to expand my understanding of contemporary art’s relationship to society by pursuing a rigorous and responsible conceptual art practice.
