My sculptural work exemplified in “The Squishes” is singular, unable to be reproduced, and imperfect. They are tied to one another. They roll away. They droop and spill. They get silly. The fuck off. The forms interaction forge an environment of precariously situated bodies. They are spilled guts, set out to debunk the hierarchies and values that pervade a male dominant art environment.
"The Squishes" act simultaneously as fleshy forms and radical reconsiderations of social observations having to do with gender and normalized images of “success”. My experience working in the studios of well-respected male artists inspires me to create that which is difinitively other than: no mammoth size, no seamlessness, and no end game of monumental material perfection.
