Artist's Statement

By engaging with forms of interrogation and representation, my work explores how otherness is constituted through matrices of language, knowledge, power, subjugation, and mediation.

Bio/Resume

Sreshta Rit Premnath (1979, Bangalore, India) lives in New York.

He is the founder and editor of Shifter, a topical magazine. He completed his MFA at Bard College in 2006 and attended the Whitney Independent Study Program in 2008.

His art-work has been shown in galleries including: Gallery SKE, in Bangalore; Friedman Benda, Rotunda Gallery, Bose Pacia and Thomas Erben Gallery in New York City, and Galerie Balice Hertling in Paris. He presented a new project titled Zero Knot at Art Statements in Art|41|Basel. He will have a solo exhibition at Galerie Nordenhake, Berlin in September 2011.
