Born in Norway, Sol lives @ www.Mothership.NYC, her arts collective in Brooklyn. After studies in 5 countries that earned her 3 graduate degrees, she got an MFA in painting at Parsons in NYC. An avid drawer all her life, Kjøk’s work has been featured worldwide. She has held artist residencies in many countries and taught & lectured throughout the US. Her work, which originates as performance, is featured in "Drawing Essentials", a textbook widely used in fine arts programs in the US. A recipient of 50+ awards & grants, Kjøk is represented in public collections like Cincinnati Art Museum, Nordic Museum of Drawing, and Osten Museum of Drawing, plus private and corporate collections throughout the world. In 2011, Kjøk founded, a nonprofit arts venue with the objective of giving international artists exposure in NYC. www.Last-Frontier.NYC, her studio + collaborative arts platform, is a continuation of this initiative
