Notes on Stereoscopic Images

The stereoscopic series are exercises in the optical effects of the retinal stimuli of stereo images on visual perception.

I am interested in how the stereo images and the optical effects of the afterimage produced by the pin-stripes induce a type of attention in a state of distraction. Or, how they place the beholder of the image in a trance like state of reverie.

The two images are near identical, as one is the inverse of the other.  I am interested in how each of our eyes sees something slightly different, and that our mind is constantly unifying and aggregating these two points of view or perspectives. The work reinforces the fact the perception, or rather the sensation of sight, is in a constant state of vibration and movement unfolding in time.
