Artist's Statement
Sascha Braunig paints in a deadpan style that belies her fantastic subjects, conjuring the bizarre and disquieting that lurks within the banal. She navigates, through repetition, the embattled territory of representing the muse. Her work exists in the territory between portraiture and relic.
