Born in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and growing up in Germany, Czech Republic and US, Sanja began exploring intercultural relations at an early age. Graduating from Northwestern University with a passion for international relations and the arts, she found her way to photography in early during a six month stay in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The search for home within new surroundings drives her work. Sanja creates images that have a strong sense of magical realism, seeking out the hidden realm within seemingly every-day situations. The mystical becomes the new-found home, adressing the artist's loss of her own roots when fleeing Bosnia and simultaneously offering the viewer a personal and intimate remedy to society's loss of "home".
Sanja has studied at the Central Saint Martin's College for Art in London and the International Center for Photography (ICP) in New York. Sanja currently moves between Prague, Berlin and New York.
