Artist's Statement

Richard Jochum is a studio member at the Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts and a teacher at Columbia University. He’s worked as a media artist since the late 1990s with 100 exhibitions and screenings worldwide. An Austrian citizen Richard received his MA in philosophy from the University of Innsbruck, and his PhD from the University of Vienna. He got his MFA in sculpture and media art from the University of Applied Arts in Vienna before he moved first to Berlin and later to New York. His most recent public art project is a flip book installation with 30 light boxes in a railroad tunnel in the Alp. His latest solo exhibition has been on display at the Dowd Gallery SUNY Cortland till last October. More information can be found at
