Artist's Statement

Raul Gomez Valverde explores how diverse cultural strategies generate value and meaning. His projects consider structures of influence, perception and classification to examine connections between experience and significance.

Bio/Resume

Raul received an MA from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, London and a BFA from Complutense University of Madrid, where he worked as a researcher and lecturer. In 2008, Raul was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to pursue an MFA at the School of Visual Arts in New York and obtained the Creación Injuve award from the Spanish Ministry of Equality.

His work has been displayed in Madrid (ARCO 2010, PHotoEspaña, 2009; Circulo de Bellas Artes, 2008), Milan (Instituto Cervantes, 2009), and London (Royal College of Art, 2007) amongst others. “To look and to look", a monograph of his recent work was published in Santander on January 2009.
