Rachelle Reichert
My work deeply examines the fractured self where desires are splintered, unclear and always changing form. Many of my paintings are from a series that is painted from collaged images taken from print advertising. It is an exploration of the image, in particular the figure, in a society that is bombarded by imagery. There is a strong dialogue between master portraiture painting and a model in a print advertisement. The latter has drawn deeply from the former and as a figurative painter there is a strong need participate in this conversation.

Lives and works in New York City, NY
I was born and raised in a suburb of New York City in New Jersey. I received a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Painting from Boston University. Immediately after earning my degree, I was commissioned by both Red Bull, Inc and the Boston University Medical School to permanently display paintings. After completion, I traveled to Catalan countryside of Spain to continue to develop my painting at Can Serrat Artist Residency. Upon return, I was hired at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and moved to New York City. While in New York, I attended classes at the New York Academy of Figurative Art, continued to create new paintings and exhibited work throughout the area.
