Artist's Statement

In my paintings and sculptures, I explore industrial and manufactureing architecture as psychological space. I tend to gravitate towards imagery that alludes to our collective attempts at security, and subvert it to expose what turns out to be a false sense of protection, to show the inherent flaws in the armor and the chaos lurking just below the surface.

Fear and vulnerability, and the desire for protection and enclosure, intersect with the desire to embrace vast space and scale. The tension between darkness and light, good and evil, dystopia and utopia and the conflicting impulses to both withdraw and to engage is an important element of my work.
