Artist's Statement

2013 was the year of my creative breakthrough. For just over 2 years I have lived and painted in the Olive Opera House in Ossining, NY. The studio, at 2000 square feet and with 23 foot ceilings, has been instrumental in my arriving at this point in my wok. The sources of inspiration are predation in nature, evolution, my cats, the Asian girl, Ray Harryhausen, my victory over depression and brush with suicide, my razor sharp wit, and good old fashioned light and shadow. My whole life's work can be seen at www.paulfortunato.com.
