Artist's Statement

I paint. My art is conceptual. I play with difference and repetition. I'm interested in language. I stress the materials, with lush tactile surfaces. 1) Windmill paintings reference DonQuixote, and Leibniz’s theory of the monad. The recycle sign is a symbol of appropriation, blurs distinctions between high and low, transcends power structures, and is enviormental. It is a non-orientable surface meaning it is possible to travel from one side of the surface to other side continually in-order to achieve a mirror image. It is alchemical. 2) Meat, allegorize the idea of meat. I’m interested in how individual units/subjects are made objects. It’s a metaphor of the painting process. I create 3-D on the picture plane in a painterly way that is not contrived and static, and uses highly expressive drips. They reference Jackson Pollock as "Jack the dripper", they destroy the image and create a layered image. Blood has alchemical properties.
