Pablo Jansana

At a specific period in his life, Jansana suffered a couple of violent experiences that left him hanging between
life and death. Since that time, he has been working on extrapolating the meanings and feelings around
those events into confrontations with his own varied media,in particular, his paintings. Central to the work is
Jansana´s profound understanding of painterly tradition which simultaneously accommodates muscular,
expressive brushstrokes, taking images from different media used to describe actions ,people, objects or
places.
I have felt the need to confront the traumas of my past. Having commenced upon this route, I have
an innate urgency to push on. Using the concepts of 'self-effacement' and 'evasion', to describe my practice
of sourcing my emotional state, I have collected a wide range of imagery-both figurative and abstract derived
from New York's high and low culture.
