Artist's Statement
Bio/Resume
Olek (www.agataolek.com)moved to NYC after graduating from Mickiewicz University in Poland. Rediscovering her crocheting skills as a sculptor landed Olek's mixed media, sculptural environments in galleries in New York, Istanbul, Venice, Toronto, Salvador and Poland. Her achievements include The R. Mellon Award for Sculpture, residencies at Sculpture Space (NY), Instituto Sacatar (Brazil), 2010 AAI LES. Olek is a winner of apexart's commercial competition aired on PBS. She was a featured artist in the independent collective exhibition "Waterways" during the 49th Venice Biennale as well as in "Two Continents Beyond" at the 9th International Istanbul Biennale.
