In 2010 I embarked on a project to self-publish 12 artist books, each comprising a self-contained photographic project. As the digital age continues to proliferate, my motivation is to engage more experimentally with the mediums of photography and bookmaking.
Ofer Wolberger (b. 1976) is an artist who lives and works in New York City.
He received his MFA in Photography and Related Media from The School of Visual Arts in 2001 and is the recipient of The Humble Arts Foundation’s Spring 2008 Grant for Emerging Photographers. He was a finalist for both the BMW Paris Photo Prize in 2008 as well as the Prix HSBC pour la Photographie in 2009.
This year he is a finalist for The Royal Monceau Photography Competition in Paris.
Ofer is presently working on a series of 12 self-published artists books collectively known as The Photographic Book Project. Some of these books have been exhibited last year at The Photographers’ Gallery in London and in Paris as part of PIY (Publish it Yourself).
Most recently the books Visitor and Covers were exhibited as part of Le Garage at the Rencontres d’Arles Festival 2011.
