Artist's Statement

Painting is the medium that I choose to record my thinking, seeing and being; a notebook of sorts. I choose painting because I enjoy the process of it. In turn drawing is also very much a part of my painting because drawing is immediate, like thoughts. I like to think of my work as representing me thinking out loud and what I think about is history, design, film, words, color, shapes and forms, sex, love and hate, the past and the future, life and death. My thoughts, like my work, are at times abstract and at other times literal and still other times muddled and generally move in a lateral way through word or image associations. I may have "series" or I may group pieces together due to similarities but I rarely paint them consecutively. I have no preconceived notions or rules upon entering the studio, it is just my mind at play.
