My work involves various mediums, but all of my work is associated through common cosmetic and conceptual frameworks. I employ a minimalist vocabulary in addition to figurative references to be able to call attention to the simplicity of the acts, while also trying to transcend it.
The “Gesture Series” which includes, Paper Dolls, The Offering and The Garden sprang out of Doomed: Law of Repetitive Consequences, an ongoing project addressing the idea of repeating the same patterns over and over again. The colors, size, object and medium of expression are all different but the hand drawn pattern remains the same. The title and project stem from the catch phrase “Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it” from George Santayana’s oft-misquoted remark “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it”.
