Moses E. Hoskins
My first submission to MoMA studio visit was when it was first introduced as an internet venue for artists in 2009(?). As that was some time ago and since it remains in cyberspace it seems reasonable now (2016) to submit a new selection featuring recent work. It is customary in my studio practice to produce in series on canvas and on paper. For a comprehensive viewing of my body of work and for a canned artist statement refer to my websites www.moseshoskins.net and www.moseshoskins.com.
Moses E. Hoskins was born in 1953 in Iowa where he spent his youth and some time as an adult. He was educated in public schools and attended a few colleges in the Midwest before receiving a BFA from the University of Iowa School of Art and Art History. As a visual fine artist, his roots were in figurative rendering but he has worked abstractly since the mid 80's. Residing in New York City since 1988, Hoskins exhibits in a variety of venues. He is a recipient of grants for support of his work from the Adolph and Esther Gottlieb Foundation and also from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation. He exhibited regularly with OK Harris in NYC from 2000 until their closing after 45 years in 2014.
