Artist's Statement

Upon my arrival to New York, I felt an overwhelming sudden shift in energy, a powerful wave of movement that travels and breaks the solidity of the city’s geometric structure. That is, a force of energy that stirs up an internal battle of colorful emotions that take over me.

In my latest series of artwork “Harmony”, I turn to my canvas to put all my emotions into a few words. I write them using only two colors and shapes, in an attempt to express everything I feel in absolute simplicity. Using my bare hands, I come in direct contact with the canvas, were I am able to transfer my emotions and my energy until I can achieve perfect harmony.

Miriam Costanza was born in Mendoza, Argentina in 1963. At the early age of 12, she discovered that her future was in art. In 1981, she moved to Buenos Aires to attend the University of Fine Arts were she started her artistic career as a naïf painter. She moved to Miami in 1992 and to New York in 2009. After three decades of painting, she has arrived at the most sensible form of art, geometrical abstract.

Her works are held in numerous private and public collections in Europe, Latin America, and the United States.
