Michele Valdez
My work is about the experience of trying to make something out of nothing. I'm very influenced by abstract painting, and I'm trying to achieve the same fluidity and vibrancy of color in the photographs that I see in paintings. Working with laundry bags, Christmas lights, and flowers, I want to create lush, vibrant images which cross the boundaries between photography and other media. I'm also interested in the concept of value, and how the experience of viewing the image relates to our perceived value of the subject.
