Artist's Statement

My artwork combines drawing, prints, book art, craft, photography and installation to explore the interconnected value of memory and identity. My multi-media approach to art reflects the unique way I experienced the world growing up in the French countryside. The value of preservation, emphasized in my childhood, continues to inspire my work, which is profoundly connected to the concepts of memory and time. The fact that nobody can take memory from us makes it a hallmark of our unique individuality. I work with this concept by piecing together fragments of memory and reorganizing them into a system of maps that work as a blue print for sculptural installation. To find new forms and signs that convey the limits, the gaps, boundaries, and voids that are the components of memory, I use photography, collage, and printmaking, and superimpose transparencies and fragments onto paper.
