Artist's Statement

Our lives are impacted by dreams and our unconscious minds. My interest lies in the moment as I close my eyes at night. The daily intersections of real and invented experiences act as the basis of my inspiration. Dreamlike moments emerge and wander, when thoughts unfold, mix, reflect, and replay through shifting terrains, colors and layers, and filtering into spaces and multiple points of view. My process of using paint, canvas, paper, and collage has allowed me to capture how I record my feelings, memories, travels, dreams, and events that I witness around me. It has also allowed me to investigate the relationships between human, man-made and natural environments. The paint and the picture plane are how I communicate what I understand of today's perceptions of the world.
