Artist's Statement

Layers of protection, physicality, strength and femininity are some of the issues that concerned me over the last year and are all coming together in this new body of work. This time my work uses both actual and implied space and the material, rather than paint, becomes the subject matter. My work continues to be both visual and physical. Vivid colors, strong brushstrokes, energy, passion, strong need for communication and attitude are present on my paintings. This time, I am experimenting with installation and exhibiting the tools I used to create each painting as part of it. I am trying to open a conversation between the painting and the object and make them interact differently according to where the object/tool is placed. Like Richard Serra and Duchamp, in this body of work, I am using material to investigate my visual intimacy
