Margaret Lanzetta
INSPIRATION: Buddhism, nature, Islamic architecture, Pop Art
PALATTE: Saturated neon orange, pink, yellow and red, OSHA safety colors of the industrial arena, colors also rooted in devotional experiences of many world religions
WORK PROCESS: Silkscreening, stamping used to create rich, tactile surfaces. Offering a counterpoint to geometry, these repetitive processes, transformed into a “physical mantra”, meld the concrete with the spiritual.
MAIN THEMES: schematic and metaphoric, the work incorporates geometry and organic forms juxtaposed with patterns extracted from architecture and industrial surfaces. The works are conceived in named series such as Company Paintings, see: www.margaretlanzetta.com/companypaintingspage.html. Each series a unique chapter within the larger oeuvre. Paralleling Warhol’s forays into seriality and abstraction of everyday imagery, patterns migrate, collide and reappear from series to series
