I work with acrylic paint and mixed-media objects, such as shells, paper, jewels amd feathers to create texture and interest in my mermiad paintings. My mermaid series reflect the beaty, magic and mystery of the female form. I enjoy layering paint to create interesting highlights and lowlights. In my digital art and photography shape and color again are what motivate my work. I enjoy intersting angles and close-up views on nature. Some of my favorite artistic influences are Frida Kahlo, Georgia O'Keeffe, and Van Gogh. I am drawn to and create art that has emotion and passion in it. An artist has a responsibility to allow and encourage others to see things they might have otherwise overlooked.
I was born and raised in a small seashore town in NJ, Monmouth Beach. I ahve been painting, photographing, drawing and otheriwse being a creative human being since I graduated with my degree in Art History from Kean University. My background in Art History allowed me to learn the styles and techniques of the masters, before choosing and finding my own way in the art world. I also have a graphic design background and enjoy digital art very much. Furthermore, my Masters in the Art of Teaching (MAT) has significantly helped me value the role art plays in society as a whole. I have been exhibiting my work thorughout NJ for over tne years now, with much success, and have a solo show of my Mermaids coming up at the Red Horse Gallery in the Freehold Raceway Mall March-May 2010.
