Artist's Statement
I sometimes think of markings as islands. When you gaze at islands across a bay, they draw your attention from one to the next; while at the same time the light on the water diffuses your attention into a meditative gaze.
The fixed gaze and the traveling eye both inform the experience of looking over time, inscribed in the color, proportion, and composition of the painting.
