Leah James
Art for Art's sake and image or the sake of image - Each of my works can be seen as an image conjuring a moment, feeling, idea, or memory into a pictorial reality.
I am an artist who's work can not adhere to any one medium. My work is mainly drawing, sculpture, painting based, and I have most recently begun to create artists' books.
Leah James (born 1983, Perth, Canada) received her BFA from the University of Waterloo (2006). Her work has been exhibited at Riverside Art Museum, Riverside, Galerie Artae, Leipzig, The Meisterhaus Kandinsky / Klee, Dessau, The Convent of Saint Cecelia, Brooklyn, and most recently, at Art Metropole, Toronto. She was awarded an Exhibition Assistance grant from the Ontario Arts Council, was a participant of the Painting's Edge Residency, Idyllwild, CA and a Fellow of The New Research in Abstraction Program at the University of Waterloo.
