My work in video and new media has recurrent themes of landscape, surveillance, and alternate histories, often exploiting blurred boundaries between still and moving images. Current projects include a series of short HD videos made entirely from layered still images, which explore natural and social geographies. The first work in the series, horizon line, follows the painted landscape on the walls of Eastern State Penitentiary; another piece uses the windows of a former convent as a lens on the outside world.
I also create audio walking tours, and lead collaborative cell phone movie-making events, in which participants are asked to film with their cell phone cameras at the same time and place.
