I paint and draw real people and places I know intimately, in a way that is informed by the British figurative tradition and ‘conceptual figuration’.
Right now I am working on two series of paintings. The first, “Through the Night”, was started in 2005, and is a study of different moments in time during one night as my husband and I slept. There are now fourteen paintings in the group, one for every half hour of the night.
The second series, started last year, is the landscape of our bed after we have left it.
In a separate room at my studio, I have an occasional gallery, Big&Small/Casual Gallery, (www.bigandsmallcasualgallery.net), where on- weekend-only shows of other artists happen 5 or 6 times a year. The studio shot is taken during an opening.
