Artist's Statement

There is no narrative, referential, or sentimental component to my work. It is purely about the painting itself resulting from a personal, visual logic that has evolved through the years. My goal is to create a dialogue between impulse and calculation, spontaneity and speed in which the viewer feels the movement of the brushstrokes and paint that form rhythms across the surface. I am interested in the juxtaposition of color - it's translucency and opacity, and the tension between positive and negative forms that together create what I hope to be a dynamic and alive surface.
