Jose Muchaypina
My work takes the human body and turns it into a geometric shape, visualizes it from a symbol, or keeps it figurative. This pictorial range allows me to express basic human emotions or moods.
Jose Muchaypina was born in 1970 in Lima, Peru. He earned hi B.F.A. degree in sculpture from The College of New Jersey ('95) and M.F.A. degree in sculpture from The City College of New York. He also, between degrees, apprenticed at the Johnson Atelier metal foundry in Mercerville, NJ. He lives and works in New York City.
