Artist's Statement

SPACE IS THE PLACE:

SPACE IS THE PLACE is an independently run performance art/event series, organized and curated by j. morrison.

Celebrating its first year in operation, SITP successfully presented 13 shows in 2009, independent of outside funding and free of cost to the audience. Original intimate events feature artists, musicians, and performers both solo and in collaboration.

Conducted within a temporary space, one-night shows are executed using the concept of undefined territory as a creative impetus. Drawing inspiration from Paul McCarthy’s early intimate performances, the audience is coordinated via an RSVP invitation, and attendance has ranged from 1-100 guests.
