Artist's Statement

An undiminished attention for all manifestations of life and their "inner state" may reflect my Buddhist background and its insistence on a specific form of spirituality inherent in each and every creature. As I continue to grow personally and as an artist, I hope to render my exploration of these themes ever more articulate.

Born and raised in Saitama, Japan. Hiromi passed her childhood years as the daughter of a Buddhist priest in the unusual environment of a Buddhist temple. Members of her family have been engaged in worship at the site for several generations.

After graduating from college in 2000, Hiromi decided to move to New York City for a formative experience. In the years since then, the city has provided her with many challenges and increased awareness of her own identity as a Japanese. Also her encounter with western religions made her reengage with Buddhism. Since then, Hiromi focuses on "Divine Power" as her main theme.
