Artist's Statement

RECENT WORK
For the past ten years I have been working on photographs that are not photography per se, but are instead the results of a sense that everything I encounter is somehow not what it appears to be, no matter how obvious or familiar or mundane. In my current work, I have turned my attention to places and events that are in motion, or are elusive and sometimes exist only momentarily. In my attempts to capture some essential
qualities of those moments, I use the photographic medium as my tool for transforming these events into a body of evidence that yields not necessarily conclusions, but rather a viewpoint which reveals a subjective experience.
