Growing up I was fascinated with sari-sari stores. Sari-sari is a Filipino word for variety. Small and crammed with items, it is representational of my culture. Crowded describes our way of life. So it is inherent in us to fill up spaces even when making art. In a way a blessing and an obstacle to me.
My interests lie with the logic of display and the contradictions of bicultural identities as I investigate my social role beyond national origins.
