I make drawings, videos, sound pieces, murals and installations. I am concerned with the relationship between text and image, the artist’s role as mediator and educator of art, and the fragility of visual and written narratives. I make work that amuses and comforts me, in the belief it’ll do so for others, too.
Gabriela Vainsencher was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In 2005, she graduated from Hamidrasha School of Art, Israel, B.Ed , with full excellence scholarship from the Ministry of Education. Her solo Exhibition include La Chambre Blanche, Quebec City, Canada, WORK Gallery, Brooklyn, NY, and Leif Magne Tangens gallery, Skien, Norway.
Her work has been shown in group exhibitions at Pierogi gallery, Brooklyn, Flux Factory, LIC, Freies Museum, Berlin, Kunsthalle Lichtenberg, Berlin, The National Gallery of Saskatchewan, Canada, and Temple Bar gallery and studios, Dublin.
Vainsencher attended the Yaddo artist colony in 2008 and in 2009 she was Williams College's Levitt artist-in-residence, where she taught two interdisciplinary classes in collaboration with the Studio Art and English departments. She lives and works in Brooklyn, NY
