Artist's Statement

Through photography and installation I create forms that are amorphous and unfinished, in order to open the imagination to multiple possibilities for completeness. I am interested in exhibiting the idea that existence is mutable, variable, and unstable. I have developed a technique that uses external lenses positioned in front of the camera to remold the subjects, making them unrecognizable and dematerializing the form’s structure. The necessity of violating my subjects by showing them as partially amorphous comes from my desire to trigger in the unconscious mind of the viewer, feelings of distress, confusion, and disorientation. Through that shock I invite the audience to question the drama of the human condition and the ephemeral nature of life.
