Artist's Statement

My work is driven by an investigation of experiential gaps. I have sought to articulate the potential self-blindness of an individual’s internalized accumulation of experiences and the inherently incomplete experiential narrative derived from these experiences as well as the larger cultural manifestations of alienation and complexities of language. Through repetitive accumulation the material is transformed into object – or mass. My work has developed through a variety of temporally complex found and manipulated materials and large-scale audio-environmental installations. Often I utilize a self-reflexive form containing a pair of opposing structures which, in their opposition, imply one another and inevitably their sameness. I have used various forms of display to further highlight this implicit binary, sometimes implicating the viewer as the other half of the whole.
