Eric Amouyal

The majority of my work has been non-figurative and brushless or process painting. In The Fifth Season, I used a figurative element - leaves – to create abstract designs. I experiment with acrylic-based materials on canvas using common geometric shapes: circles, squares and rectangles. The framework of my paintings is built on line: the skeleton within a leaf or the edge created by pouring, dripping or spattering paint. Within that framework, through layering and color, I try to reveal a mood or light that for me is the soul of the work.
