Artist's Statement

Living on the planet Earth, taking our place on it, being occupied with our daily routine is our destiny as human beings. Each of us is just a little part of the Universe, so versatile and limitless. I would like to understand our place in it, our triviality in the universal and our significance in the planetary scale.

New York based artist, primarily working with large scale watercolor. Ekaterina's work is highly inspired by space, her paintings implement science (astronomy, physics, chemistry). Ekaterina often travels, in the past few years she went the art residencies in Japan (Yamanashi), Grand Canyon National Park (AZ, USA), Ireland, Austria (Neuhauser Kunstmühle, Salzburg). Ekaterina's watercolors strive to break the medium's typical physical boundaries, overflowing onto 2,5 meters tall rolls of paper, revealing new possibilities. She paints with large hardware brushes on rough textured paper, splashes, sprays, and wipes, washing away accuracy and exactness. In her recent goals: to work in collaboration with scientists, musicians and engineers.
