My paintings explore our surroundings through investigations of natural spaces. Through heightened color and shifts in scale, I am interested in emphasizing the material of paint. Similarly, in relying on gesture and alternating thin washes with layered areas, I am concered with creating spaces within the pieces that dissolve into abstraction.
Diane Carr received her MFA from the School of Visual Arts, New York and BA from American University, Washington, D.C. Her work has recently been exhibited at Gallery Satori, LaViolaBank Gallery, the Carriage House at the Islip Art Museum, CUE Art Foundation, Nurture Art, Dumbo Arts Center, Plus Ultra, Sarah Bowen Gallery, Arsenal Gallery and Wave Hill in New York, and at Arthouse Texas, Austin, TX, SPACES, Cleveland, OH and the Mahan Gallery in Columbus, OH. She lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.
