Artist's Statement

As a child I saw faces in every fold of fabric and every marble tile. I could loose myself looking for the lovely lady in the shadow or scare myself looking for the boogey man in the folds of the robe on the back of the door. Today I am channeling this into my art, working with cut paper, paints, magazines images or photographs, to create a new body, a representative creature who is born out of my psyche. The images develop and find their way as they are photographed and manipulated, output and cut up, photographed and changed again. My panel mounted collages are an homage to the religious icons that fascinated me as a child – however there are no saints or angels pictured here. My digital print series are recreations of more formal and painterly sitting portraits of past centuries with an edge.
The journey in each picture is exciting and each step in the process holds many worlds of possibilities!
